Title
Engine Does Not Crank, Repaired Fuse Block Wiring Harness

Complaint
The customer states the engine does not crank.

Cause
Confirmed the customer’s complaint and found the engine did not crank. Turned the ignition key to the start position and found no response from the starter motor. Used the multi-meter, measured the available specified 12 to 12.5 Volt battery voltage and found the voltage was present. Connected the multi-meter to the starter motor solenoid wire terminal, turned the key to the start position and found voltage was not present. Accessed the totally integrated power module (TIPM) fuse block terminal #8, turned the key to the start position and found the specified 12 Volts was present when measured with the multi-meter. Disconnected the battery, used the multi-meter to measure the resistance between the terminal #8 of the TIPM fuse block and the starter motor solenoid wire and found no continuity. Opened the fuse block wiring harness and found the TPIM fuse block #8 wire to the starter motor solenoid was broken.

Correction
Repaired the fuse block wiring harness and verified the vehicle operated properly. The customer’s concern did not return.
