B1159, C1298, P1602, P1610, U1255, Replaced Body Control Module

The customer states the check engine light is on.

Connected a scan tool and found codes: B1159 – Loss Of Serial Data; C1298 – PCM Indicated Class 2 Serial Data Link Malfunction; P1602 – Loss Of EBTCM Serial Data; P1610 – Standard Body Module Serial Data Circuit and U1255 – Generic Loss Of Class 2 Data. Attempted to communicate with all of the modules on the vehicle’s data bus network using the scan tool and found the body control module did not communicate. Disconnected the body control module connector, visually inspected the connector and terminals and found no obvious signs of damage. Used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the body control module and found both were present. Used the multi-meter to check for the presence of a short or open in the body control module communication circuit and found there were no shorts or opens present. These test results verified the body control module was faulty.

Replaced the body control module, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly.
